LECTURE: “Algorithmic Accountability and the Securing of Our Decision-Making Landscape" (UTICA/DGV)

Event Description:
Increasingly big decisions about the lives of individuals are being made in a partnership between human decision makers and computer systems. Matthews will discuss the role of algorithmic accountability in securing these decision-making processes using examples from her current work in criminal justice software and media manipulation and will also talk about principles and mechanisms for accountability as well as a set of “antipatterns” found all too often in deployed systems.
